As a part of our South East Asia trip in the summer
of 2006, we went to Cambodia, a country of astonishing beauty but
also a witness to one of the world's worst genocides committed in
the 70's by Pol Pot and his Red Khmers. Today Cambodia is looking
to the future and the people are extremely friendly and welcoming
to foreigners. One of my absolute favourite countries!
The classic view of Cambodia's no. 1: Angkor Wat |

Are you able to spot the traveller? |

Inside Angkor Wat, the Khmer history is written on reliefs |

Probably even more astonishing, the temple of Bayon
|

Banteay Srei, well worth the extra 30 km on tuk-tuk
|

Part of Ta Prohm, where Tomb Raider was shot!
|
Somebody's watching you! |

No surprise Ta Prohm was selected for film shooting! |

Royal palace, capital of Phnom-Penh |

View from the Foreign Correspondents CLub, Phnom-Penh |

The dark side of Cambodia: skulls at Killing Fields.... |

But life goes on - girls on their way to school |

In Cambodia you can stay comfortable - our terrace by the
lake
|

And you can eat well! Friends' restaurant, run by street kids
|

Above:Main street of one of the countries major towns!
Right: Locals on a truck wearing the traditional Khmer scarves |
